Laboratory / Bio-Tech Moving
It is important to note that approximately 60% of our total work is in the laboratory / bio-tech market. We have not only developed certain methods for this type of work but we also own and use equipment that is without question, unique to our industry. Having enough of the standard equipment, i.e. dollies, computer carts, etc., as well as the specialized equipment, not only enables us to complete jobs in far less time (which translates into cost savings), but also reduces damage claims to the point where they are basically unheard of. Out of the thousands of laboratory moves ABC has accomplished, hundreds have involved a researcher’s life work, we have never had anything like a serious claim; and that in itself is a tremendous savings.

Upon being awarded a laboratory / bio-tech relocation, the first thing we do is assign a primary project manager. This person is responsible for working with the client to establish the most efficient and cost-effective moving plan, schedule and conduct a pre-move seminar and acclimate our on-site supervisors with all aspects of the job.
With all relocations, our ultimate goal is to complete the move on time, under budget and incident free. We have found that with laboratory moves, the scientist or researcher is naturally apprehensive about how his or her equipment will be handled. Please note that we are acutely aware of these concerns and we highly recommend the following.
Hold an Employee Seminar
- Thoroughly cover how we will move their equipment
- Introduce everyone to the crate and dolly system (bring in crates and crate dolly as a sample)
- Thoroughly cover the basics regarding how to pack, what to pack, what not to pack, and how to label.
- Thoroughly discuss chemical moving, cold item moving and our specifications as to how the labs should be cleaned prior to our arrival.
- Establish a uniform labeling system for the new space.
- Cover all insurance-related issues as well as the servicing of any equipment prior to the move.
